Hello! I’m Tracie Peterson and I’m so happy to be on this scavenger hunt with you. Introducing readers to new books, especially historical fiction is something I dearly love to do. Pulling out interesting and obscure facts about our country and the people who helped shape it never gets boring for me. And I hope it is always a joy and inspiration for readers! Whether you’re new to historical fiction, or an avid historian yourself, I would love to connect with you on my website or on Facebook.
While I’ve written more than 130 books, each story is as fresh and exciting as the last and I never get tired of delving into new worlds and historical research. My newest book with my friend Kimberley Woodhouse is no different. And this time it takes place in my state of Montana! I can’t wait for you to have With Each Tomorrow in your hands and meet our new friends:
Eleanor “Ellie” Briggs has come west to Kalispell, Montana with her conservationist father to meet with influential figures about the forming of a brand-new national park. Ellie is passionate about all lands being open to the public – especially in areas like Montana where the vast landscape is breathtaking! But beneath her outspoken opinions, Ellie is wrestling with what she really believes about God and her place in her father’s world.
Set against the backdrop of Kalispell, Montana, the sparks start to fly as Ellie comes up against Carter Brunswick, the son of a wheat farmer with vast acreage and his unshakeable faith. With Each Tomorrow boasts a colorful cast of characters, including fan-favorites Marvella and Sir Theophilus.
Researching this book with Kim was a hoot. Each book in The Jewels of Kalispell series focuses on a certain building, rich withhistory and architectural grandeur. With Each Tomorrow showcases the Great Northern Railroad Depot which is now the Chamber of Commerce in Kalispell. Based on the pictures, I’m sure you can tell Kim and I never have any fun writing and researching together. And of course, when we happened upon the stairwell to the creepy basement, Kim just had to check it out. But not me. Nope. No way. She said it was even creepier than it looked and shivered. Rest assured, there are no creepy basements in our newest book as much as Kim would have liked to put one in there.
So many of you have written in to ask if characters from The Heart’s Choice will return in the series. Especially a certain matron named Marvella and her little dog, Sir Theophilus. But in this story we also tackle a tough challenge in US history that was prevalent during this time period. Railroads were often the heartbeat of a town. They could ‘make it or break it’. So when the railroad decided to pull its hub out of Kalispell, you can imagine the turmoil this caused. The loss of the railroad almost always spelled the death of a town. We invite you to join along with Ellie and Carter and that your journey into Kalispell is as entertaining and fulfilling as it was for Kim and me to write it.
